About Us
Here at Crookston Rotary Club, we see the value in everyone. We want to be a catalyst for positive change, and since our beginnings in 1921, we’ve been driven by the same ideas: support, empowerment, and progress!
History
In the fall of 1921, the Grand Forks Noon Rotary Club, found itself, but an infant in Rotary, conceived the idea of organizing a Rotary Club in Crookston, Minnesota. Consequently, several trips were made to Crookston by Mel C. Bacheller, Tom Moore and Roy Bridgeman of the Grand Forks Rotary Club, and they worked closely with Hugh Terrence, an automobile dealer in Crookston, who is given credit for the formation of the Crookston Rotary Club. Organization became a reality on February 23, 1922, when the club first met as a provisional club. Later the club was presented its charter (1103) by Roy Bridgeman and also most all the members of the Grand Fork Rotary club on March 1, 1922.

Values of Joining Rotary
Rotarians worldwide are inspired by the Rotary theme of “Service Above Self” and are guided by reference to ‘The Four-Way Test’ which challenges Rotarians, in everything they do, to ask of themselves:
Is it the TRUTH?
Is it FAIR to all concerned?
Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?
Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
What is in it for me?
Benefits of Joining Rotary
Friendship - In an increasingly complex world, Rotary maintains a simple philosophy – make friends in your own community and throughout the world.
Giving back to the community - Through Rotary, service to local and overseas communities is well organized and rewarding. If you like helping others, here is your chance to do something worthwhile and make a real difference.
Fun and entertainment -Rotary is fun… a lot of fun! Our Rotary club and district arranges social activities that provide a welcome distraction to a hectic business life.
Business development - Networking opportunities are endless. Rotary consists of a cross-section from every business community and its members come from all walks of life.
Personal growth and development - Membership of Rotary develops leadership, public speaking, social, business, personal and vocational skills as well as improving cultural awareness.
Community and Global Awareness - Clubs organize programs and meet weekly to keep members informed about what is going on in the community, the country and the world. Each meeting provides an opportunity to listen to different speakers on a variety of interesting current topics.
Travel - Every Rotarian is welcome and encouraged to attend any of the 33,000 clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical regions. This bond creates an instant friendship wherever you are in the world.
Through Rotary's service programs, a Rotary club can have a significant effect on the quality of life in its community. Programs of The Rotary Foundation offer opportunities to form international partnerships that help people in need worldwide.
